We are a refugee-founded and led organization providing higher education scholarships, leadership training, and support services to bright refugee students in Rwanda. Mondiant Initiative’s programs are designed to empower, educate and engage refugees so they can have the tools to improve their communities.

There are thousands of bright refugee students ready to learn, lead, and impact the world if given the chance. Our purpose is to extend a hand to the changemakers, visionaries, and future leaders in refugee camps who are waiting to make a difference if given the opportunity.

Meet One of Our Scholars

Francoise is one of 15 scholars in our 2023/2024 cohort of students. Our students have diverse backgrounds, interests, and aspirations, but all share one thing in common—they have stories and experiences worth telling, and are ready to be heard.

Mondiant Initiative’s role goes beyond academic and psychosocial support. Our job is to give these bright, strong young refugees a platform to show the world their potential—to empower them to speak up and share their stories. Every Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people and organizations from across the world join a global generosity movement called GivingTuesday.

At the heart of GivingTuesday is radical generosity—generosity not as a benevolence that the haves show to the have-nots, but rather an expression of mutuality, solidarity and reciprocity.

Radical generosity transcends simply giving money—which unfortunately has yet to stop wars, suffering and inequity through the ages—and focuses our efforts to love, help, understand, offer hope and find new ways of healing at the root of our issues.

For GivingTuesday 2024, we’re asking you to turn your one-time donation into a monthly pledge until GivingTuesday 2025. By transforming your one-time donation into a twelve month pledge, you are joining a movement of radical generosity that is transforming the lives of refugee students, one school year at a time. Together, we can make a lasting difference and empower these bright minds to reach their full potential.

Pledging is easy:

  1. Pledge your support to our students with a one year, monthly recurring contribution. No amount is too small—every pledge is valuable!
  2. You’ll receive periodic updates from our storytelling team so you can follow the academic journeys of our students throughout the school year.
  3. One month before GivingTuesday 2025, we’ll send you a reminder that your pledge is approaching the final month.
  4. If you enjoy being a part of our initiative, then no changes are needed. However, you’re always free to modify or pause your contribution for the next year.

Instead of a one-time donation of $12, consider pledging $1 monthly for one year.

Instead of a one-time donation of $60, consider pledging $5 monthly for one year.

Instead of a one-time donation of $120, consider pledging $10 monthly for one year.
